The Barnardo's Cymru Policy and Research Unit aims to improve the lives of children and young people in Wales, by influencing public policy and practice. We do this by speaking up for children and young people about the laws and policies which affect them and their families.

We involve children and young people as often as we can in our influencing work by asking their opinions and experiences of the services they receive and how changes in the law might improve their lives or make them more difficult. Where we can, we arrange direct contact between children and young people with politicians and policy makers in Wales. By also taking into account the views of our experienced staff, we therefore aim to contribute to improved policies for children and young people across the work of the Welsh Government and National Assembly for Wales.
