Based on a mixed methods evaluation of 10 Barnardo’s services supporting young people affected by sexual exploitation, this research highlights that young people are vulnerable to sexual exploitation due to a range of underlying factors which include abuse, neglect, and domestic abuse.
The findings show that the sexual exploitation services successfully achieved improved outcomes for young people at risk of, or experiencing, sexual exploitation across five measures - going missing, accommodation need, relationship with carers, rights and risk awareness, and engagement with services.
