Leeds Children's Rights (Advocacy Looked After)

What we do

Leeds Children's Rights Service is an independent rights and advocacy service for children, young people and care leavers looked after by Leeds Social Care.
We provide advocacy support for all looked after children, including disabled children, unaccompanied asylum seeking children, those in secure accommodation and those placed out of authority by Leeds.

The service ensures that those identified above are informed of their rights and supported to participate in the design and delivery of the service and involved in decision making which affects them. We can attend reviews, give advice and information, help have your say in decisions that affect you, get answers to your questions, help you to sort out problems or make a complaint.
If you think you or someone you are supporting as part of your role, would benefit from this support then please contact our team on 07808 736330 or email: [email protected]

We can help with

Advocacy and participation (children in care)

  • We provide one-to-one support for children and young people looked-after by their local authority. We also help other young people in need of support, such as those on a child protection plan. Our mental health advocacy services work with children and young people receiving or wanting mental health support. Children and young people have a right to be heard and involved in decisions about them, so we support them by explaining their wishes and arguing their case. We also provide activities and training for families and professionals.

  • Residential care

  • Every child should be supported to thrive. We provide specialist care for children with special educational needs (SEN) and other disabilities, including overnight and short-break care. Our services give children and young people an opportunity to be cared for while having fun and socialising with peers in an inclusive space.
