Independence Project

What we do

The Independence Project supports young people aged 12–18 who live in Newcastle or have a Newcastle-based GP; where there is an identified need for emotional health and wellbeing support. The service helps young people transition out of Tier 3 mental health services and aims to prevent escalation or re entry into therapeutic support.

We support young people with mild to moderate emotional health needs, including challenges related to emotional regulation, anxiety, low mood, and healthy relationships. Up to 12 weeks of structured, young person led intervention is provided, offering both practical and emotional guidance. Our work focuses on building resilience, increasing self-awareness, and developing effective strategies for managing mental wellbeing, while empowering young people to make informed decisions that contribute to positive outcomes.
