What we do
The Barnardo's Baby and Me Service is a Health and Social Care collaboration developed in partnership with Newport City Council through the Newport Strategic Partnership.
The service supports parents from 12 weeks onwards in pregnancy, through to 6 months post birth, when there are safeguarding concerns for the unborn baby, and risk of removal from parents’ care at birth.
Referrals into the service come from Children’s Services, but rely on multi-agency working with Midwifery who identify families in need at their booking appointment.
Baby and Me recognises that the pre-birth period can be an incredibly frightening and difficult time for parents, especially if they have experienced recurrent care proceedings, or are care experienced themselves. Parents deserve every opportunity to demonstrate change, and be supported to overcome barriers to successful parenting.
