Child adoption in Wales/Cymru

When you choose to adopt with Barnardo's, you can help to change the life of a vulnerable child in Wales. Adopters can transform the lives of young people bringing stability and security when a child needs it most. Our team here in Wales is dedicated to supporting and training our adopters, giving them the skills and confidence to help the children in their care.

Adoption in Wales

We are looking to recruit adopters who can meet the varied needs of the children we are supporting. We welcome applications from all backgrounds including: single applicants, applicants with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender applicants.

It only takes a second to lift the phone and start your enquiry today.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from you if you feel you have the skills to support children from the below categories:

Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) children
The number of children in care from BME backgrounds is increasing each year.

We need adoptive parents to give safe and loving homes to children, helping each child to thrive in their new environment. You could help change the lives of children in care of African, Caribbean, Asian and mixed ethnicities.

Children with challenging behaviours
Children in care may have suffered neglect, sexual or emotional abuse in the past and every child copes differently with past traumas.

We need adoptive parents who are willing to understand demanding behaviours. We offer ongoing support and training to help you change the lives of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

Sibling groups
You can help keep children together by adopting siblings. We need adoptive parents to offer caring and stable homes for brothers and sisters.

We will give you training and support to help you become an adoptive parent, as well as ongoing support to help you bond once the child moves into your home.
