Barnardo’s NI is delighted to have recently been registered as a voluntary adoption agency with the Registration Quality and Improvement Authority (RQIA).  We are unable to respond to adoption enquiries or referrals at this time, but plan to be fully operational in early 2022.

The focus of our service will be on finding families for those children waiting for whom a placement that meets their needs is not available, whether though long-term fostering or adoption. These are children with complex needs, such as health concerns, developmental uncertainty, early life trauma as well as older children and children who require placement with brothers and sisters.

Our aim is to work hard to find families who can care for children with additional needs, initially on a fostering basis to allow the child to settle in their care and for relationships to develop. When the time is right for the child and the carers, we will support them to in moving to adoption, if this is the right plan for the child.
