Adopting in Northern Ireland

Thanks for visiting our page about adopting with Barnardo’s in Northern Ireland

We’re delighted to have recently been registered as a voluntary adoption agency with the Registration Quality and Improvement Authority (RQIA).

You can find out more about our service and how to get in touch here.

Our focus is to find families for children with a range of needs, whether that be health concerns, developmental uncertainty or early life trauma, as well as older children and children who need to be placed with their brothers or sisters. Sometimes, that can be through long-term fostering or in some cases, adoption.

We’re always looking for families who can care for these children, initially on a fostering basis to allow for the child to settle in their care and also, for relationships to develop. If this is the right plan for the child, and when the time is right for both the child and the carers, we will support them to move towards adoption.

We’d love to hear from you if you think you could be one of those families.
