About this service
The Stronger Families programme supports families across Bradford and Leeds who have barriers to accessing education or training and gaining skills for work and employment. This programme is funded by European Structural fund and the National Lottery (Building Better Opportunities) and delivered by a number of third sector partners. Barnardo’s manages the Bradford Stronger Families hub being the single point of contact for all referrals and enquires.
Stronger families supports families to identify what is important to them through a variety of tools, employing motivational interview techniques and setting actions and goals inline at pace with the parents’ goals and aspirations. By working with the family, keyworkers support families to overcome a range of challenges in to work such as health and wellbeing, debt and budgeting, housing, school attendance, parenting and supporting the transition in to work.
Each family is allocated a keyworker who will work regularly 1-2-1 with the participant to focus on understanding their needs, strengths, and job goals for about 6 months. This allows each participant to have a tailored package of support to enable them to feel ready for work, training or education.
