Right now, children across the UK are struggling. 1 in 3 young people have experienced mental health and wellbeing issues recently – like stress, worry and loneliness.
Just like the young girl in our recent TV advert, many children are experiencing feelings of loss and loneliness right now.
After her dad died, Jessica’s life fell apart. She moved between care homes and even ended up sleeping rough. Going through such challenges without proper support she could rely on deeply impacted her wellbeing.
No child should feel like life can’t get better. Your donation could help a child feel listened to, believed in, that someone’s always there to help them through their difficulties - however long that takes.
Together we can make sure that young people who are struggling with their mental health get practical support that’s tailored to them, whether that’s through specialist counselling or creative therapies.
We also work in schools to help children understand the importance of mental health and getting help early before problems become very difficult. In addition to our direct support work, we inform, influence and campaign on mental health and wellbeing locally, regionally and nationally.
Mental health support is a key thread that weaves through everything we do to support children and young people.
With your help, we can continue to provide vital virtual and in person therapeutic support so children can work through their feelings and find ways of coping with challenges.
At Barnardo’s we protect, support and nurture some of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people. Over 150 years, we’ve built up a network of services throughout the UK in local communities. Last year, Barnardo’s and partners helped over 380,000 children, young people and parents. We are the UK’s largest children’s charity with nearly 800 services. The scale of what we do may be big and complex, but our aim is simple – to provide the best outcome for every child, no matter who they are or what they have been through. Whatever happens, we don’t give up on children. We are there for as long as it takes.
For every £1 you donate, we spend 92p on working with the children who most need our help. Income raised will go where the need is greatest.
These are difficult times for everyone right now, and that can sometimes be overwhelming. Through it all, we're here and we want to help children, young people and families in need. If you've been affected by the issues above, find out where to get help.
