Barnardo's has responded to a further delay to the Online Safety Bill.

Responding to the removal of a Final Report Stage debate on the Online Safety Bill which was scheduled for 1st November, Barnardo’s Chief Executive Lynn Perry MBE said:

“Every day the Bill is delayed is another day that children are exposed to extreme pornography, which harms their mental health and their understanding of healthy relationships.

“The Government has said this legislation is a priority and we would urge Ministers to act swiftly to protect children. The bill would require pornography websites to introduce age verification, which will help prevent millions of young children from stumbling across harmful videos online. These vital changes must come back to Parliament urgently. Children cannot afford to wait any longer.”
