HEADROOM - First Episode Psychosis Service (FEPS)

What we do

Headroom is an integrated service delivered in partnership with Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. The Barnardo's FEP Service supports children and young people experiencing psychosis for the first time or those at risk of developing psychosis. We support 14-25 year olds and take referrals from secondary mental health services where the young person has a care coordinator, e.g. CAMHS, CMHT’s, crisis teams or inpatient services. We aim to offer help early so that children & young people can recover as quickly as possible. Research shows that the longer these difficulties are left untreated, the greater the impact on the young person’s life and the lives of those close to them.
We support the young person’s recovery through a mixture of befriending, advocacy and mentoring and by enabling access to mainstream and specialist services.

We can help with

    Mental health

  • Services supporting children and young people's emotional health and wellbeing. We have centres where children and young people can visit and have a trained worker they can trust and talk to. We help them build their confidence and get to the root of their difficulties.
