Barnardo's Scotland Assistant Directors

Our Assistant Directors of Children's Services take responsibility for specific areas of work across Barnardo's Scotland. They support our service managers and make sure we deliver the most effective services for children and young people.

Our Assistant Directors

Eddie Kane

Assistant Director - Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire

Eddie has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire. Eddie is also the safeguarding lead for Scotland.

Alison McIntyre

Assistant Director - Glasgow and the West

Alison has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Glasgow and the West. Alison is also the CSE/CSA, Family Support and Attainment lead for Scotland.

Fiona Bennett

Assistant Director - Forth Valley and South West Scotland

Fiona has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Forth Valley, Dumfries and Galloway, East, North and South Ayrshire with service offices in Falkirk, Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning. Fiona is also the Refugee/Asylum Seekers and Justice lead for Scotland.

Martin Mathieson

Assistant Director - Lanarkshire and West

Martin has operational responsibility for the external management of a range of Children and Young People's Services in North and South Lanarkshire and West of Scotland. Martin is also the Equalities lead for Scotland.

Peter Nield

Assistant Director - Tayside and Fife

Peter has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Tayside and Fife. Peter is also the Care Inspectorate liaison for Scotland.

Wendy Strathearn

Assistant Director – Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire & Highlands

Wendy has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Wendy is also the Domestic Abuse lead for Scotland.

Faith Watson

Assistant Director - South East Scotland

Faith has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in the East Region of Scotland, this includes West Lothian and Edinburgh. Faith is also The Promise lead for Scotland.

Anne Whyte

Assistant Director - Fostering and Adoption

Anne has responsibility for Family Placement - Fostering and Adoption services across Scotland. The function of the F&A team is to recruit a range of carers to meet the needs of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and to work in partnership with Local Authorities to identify gaps in their own resources which Barnardo’s Scotland can assist in filling.

Cliff Graham

Assistant Director - Employment & Skills Scotland and Northern Ireland

Cliff is responsible for the delivery and development of Barnardo's Employment, Training and Skills services across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Working in partnership with key stakeholders and employers to support disadvantaged young people into sustainable independent employment, by enabling access to work placements, volunteering, Modern Apprenticeships and accredited training.
