Internationally acclaimed actor Daniel Craig is supporting Barnardo’s to help raise vital funds for the children and families who need urgent help this winter.

Daniel Craig chose to share a message of support for the charity, encouraging people to support Barnardo’s this winter. In the video, Daniel draws attention to how more than one in four children in the UK are living in poverty, which means a difficult festive season ahead for thousands of families.

Daniel encourages viewers to donate to Barnardo’s so that the charity can provide help both at Christmas and beyond, especially for those who are struggling in the current financial climate.

This reflects Barnardo’s ‘My Christmas’ campaign, which is helping families most in need to feel warm, fed and supported this holiday season and beyond. In a recent YouGov poll, commissioned by Barnardo’s, more than half of parents with children aged 18 or under in Great Britain revealed they have been forced to cut back on food spending for their family over the past 12 months, in order to save money.

In addition, over half of parents with children aged 18 or under in Great Britain were likely to reduce their spending on food and drink this Christmas, while almost half were likely to spend less on Christmas presents for their children compared to previous years.

Daniel Craig is a long-term supporter of Barnardo’s, having backed the charity’s work for years, including its ‘Never Give Up’ campaign in 2007 to support vulnerable school-aged children. He also took the time to visit a Barnardo’s centre in London in 2011 to meet some of the young people who use the local service.

Lynn Perry MBE, Barnardo’s CEO, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Daniel Craig for choosing to support children and young people most in need this winter.

“We want children to feel safe and happy at Christmas, but we know that’s impossible without having their basic needs met. As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, raising funds and support for Barnardo’s could help us provide food and warmth so we can make Christmas a time children want to remember.

“We are so grateful for Daniel’s support over many years, and we hope to continue working closely together as we navigate the challenges that lie ahead for families across the UK.”

All funds raised by Barnardo's My Christmas campaign shall go where they are needed the most. This is to ensure some of the UK's most vulnerable children are supported and nurtured. Donations from the public could help us to:

- Provide food parcels or supermarket vouchers so children don’t go hungry this Christmas
- Host services that provide children with a nourishing Christmas dinner and snacks
- Provide energy vouchers to heat families’ homes and let children wake up to a warm home
- Provide warm clothing to children during the winter months
