What we do
Togetherness is an early intervention support framework designed to enhance children's and families' emotional health and well-being. Hackney has commissioned Barnardo's to deliver a range of Togetherness parenting and professional workshops.
Funded by Hackney from April 2024 to March 2026 and beyond these initiatives focus on helping parents and carers develop secure relationships with their children, promoting healthy brain development and positive emotional well-being.
The courses offered are aimed at parents and carers of children aged 0–5 living in Hackney, as well as professionals who work with them. The courses include:
For Parents/Carers who are Hackney residents:
• Understanding Pregnancy, Labour, Birth, and Your Baby (antenatal course)
• Understanding Your Baby (postnatal course for parents/carers of 0–11 month olds)
• Understanding Your Child (for parents/carers of 1–5-year-olds, start date to be confirmed)
For Professionals:
• 2-day Foundation Course (for professionals working with families in Hackney)
• Train the Trainer Course (for professionals who have completed the foundation course and wish to deliver it themselves, start date to be confirmed)
• Parenting Train the Trainer Course (for professionals who have completed the foundation course and wish to deliver Togetherness parenting courses, start date to be confirmed)
