Clacks Additional Support Service

What we do

The Clacks Additional Support Service is a partnership between Barnardo’s and Action for Children. This bespoke service works across Clackmannanshire offering out of hours support to families at times of crisis.

Aim of the service
To improve outcomes for children, young people and families at times of crisis through a range of interventions based on the family’s needs. The key aims are to increase resilience of families, develop best practice, share learning, reduce the risk factors for children and young people and to prevent crisis and family breakdown.

Interventions may include:
• Supporting families at risk of breakdown by providing interventions for the whole family at a time when they most need it;
• Parenting support to establish routines and appropriate boundaries;
• Accredited and recognised de-escalation techniques;
• Monitoring;
• Pro-social modelling for young people, supporting them to access a range of activities; and
• Supporting families by providing ‘time out’ for children and young people at times of crisis.
