Byker Primary Family Support Pilot

What we do

A targeted piece of work to deliver support specifically into a Primary School in the Newcastle East area. The aim of this service is to work alongside families within Byker Primary School to build trusting relationships, to enable families to connect into the Family Hub/wider services, as well as to help them build community/family networks. Two Family Partners are based in Byker Primary School, utilising the School, Family Hub and other community spaces. The offer includes direct 1:1 interventions, as well as group interventions/parenting programmes - this is determined by and responsive to the needs of children and families.

This team will work alongside Family Help and CFN Protect as part of the Families First offer to reduce the risk of escalation, and to enable sustainable community-based support networks to wrap around these children with a holistic family offer. Building the families confidence and connections in accessing universal and community services so that parents or kinship carers can provide safe, stable home environments for their children to thrive. The approach will be to enable family led decision making and to find and build family strengths and protective factors including through wider family, peer and community networks.
