Our fostering services in the Midlands provide vulnerable young people locally with the stability they need to thrive. Every day, our foster carers make a huge difference to children's lives, supported by our social workers in the region.
“All that these young people needed was a second chance. They deserved some extra help and nurturing" Bev, Barnardo's remand foster carer.
As a foster carer, you could offer:
Many of the young people in foster care are teenagers who need support at this crucial time in their lives. Fostering older children can be extremely rewarding - by preparing a teenager for the future, you are giving them skills that last a lifetime.
1 in 3 children are separated from their siblings when placed in foster care - to give children the stability of staying with their brothers or sisters, we need people who can foster sibling groups.
Children with challenging behaviours
Children in care may have experienced abuse in the past. Every child copes differently with past traumas and to help them, we are looking for foster carers who can understand demanding behaviours.
Children with physical and/or learning disabilities
Carers with experience of, or interest in, supporting children with a disability can have an amazing impact.
“We have had a superb year. We have enjoyed the challenges and found the progress of our placements very rewarding.” – Donna, foster carer
