Policy and influencing in Wales

We have first-hand experience of the issues faced by children and young people across Wales. We use that experience to campaign for change and influence governments to achieve better outcomes for more children.

Our policy campaigns and influencing work in Wales is currently focused on driving change for:

  • Children, young people, and families living in poverty.
  • Children and young people who are at risk of, have experienced, or are experiencing sexual abuse and exploitation.
  • Children in care and care leavers.

Our recent influencing work

  • We published our manifesto for the 2026 Senedd elections which outlines a set of commitments we are urging all political parties to adopt to change childhoods and change lives.

  • We worked with the children’s sector to respond to Welsh Government’s Child Poverty Strategy.

  • We participate in many Welsh Government policy development groups, including: the Child Poverty Strategy Expert Reference Group, the Income Maximisation Steering Group, and the Child Sexual Abuse Strategy Group.
