Barnardo's Text to Donate

For each text message sent, you will be charged the amount of your donation plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates) via the reply confirmation text message; the charge will show on the phone bill, and the sender will show as a five-digit number (the “billing short code”).

When you activate your subscription, your first donation of £5 will be taken plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). Thereafter, you will receive a free reminder text each month, sent before your donation is due. If you're happy to continue giving, no action is required and your donation will be processed.    

If you wish to skip donating for a month, simply reply the word SKIP within 24 hours of receiving the reminder. Your donation will not be taken for that month, and you will only be charged for one standard network rate text message.

If you decide to stop giving altogether, you can reply STOP at any time or call us on 0300 003 2025. 

1. All donations will go to Barnardo’s Children Charity (Registered office address: Tanners Lane, Barkingside, Ilford, Essex IG6 1QG). Registered Charity No: 216250 / SC037605 (“Barnardo’s”). 

2. You must be 18 years old or over to donate via text message and must obtain permission from the bill payer.  

3. Donations can only be made from a UK mobile number only. You cannot donate using services from the Channel Islands, Isle of Man or any non-UK mobile. If donating from a mobile outside of England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may incur additional network charges. 

4. No VAT will be charged on your donation.  

5. Single Donation: For each text message sent, you will be charged the amount of your donation plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates) via the reply confirmation text message; the charge will show on your bill and the sender will show as a five-digit number (the “billing short code”).  

6. Regular Donations:  

6.1 Upon activation of your subscription, an initial donation of £5 will be deducted and you will be charged the amount of your donation plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). 

6.2 Each subsequent month, a free reminder text will be sent one day prior to the scheduled donation. If you do not respond, the donation will be processed automatically plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). 

6.3 To skip a monthly donation, you must reply with the keyword SKIP within 24 hours of receiving the reminder text. In such cases, the donation will not be processed, and only one standard network rate text message charge will apply. 

6.4 Charges will show on your bill and the sender will show as a five-digit number (the “billing short code”). 

6.5 To cease all future donations, you may reply STOP at any time or contact us directly on 0300 003 2025. 

7. Donations are taken from your phone in multiples of up to £10. If you donate more than £10 in one go, your donation will appear on your phone bill as up to three separate charges, each of up to £10. 

8. Barnardo’s will receive 100% of each donation as unrestricted funds. 

9. If you enter the keyword incorrectly, your donation to Barnardo’s may not be successful. You will receive either: (a) an error message, in which case you will not make a donation, but you may still be charged your standard network message charge; or (b) a confirmation message that your donation has been successful, in which case you will be charged the relevant donation amount plus your standard network message charge as set out above.  

10. If you send your text message to an incorrect short code, or you otherwise fail to correctly follow the instructions in these Terms and Conditions, you will not donate to Barnardo’s, but you may still be charged.  

11. There is a daily limit (12.00am to 11.59pm) of £40 on text donations to each short code for the same amount from the same mobile number, Further text donations will not be accepted if you exceed this daily limit (so you will not be donating these additional amounts to Barnardo’s), but you may still incur your standard network message charge.  This text to donate service is being provided for Barnardo’s by Cymba Integrated Solutions Limited (“Cymba”), a company registered in England and Wales with registered address 107 Cheapside, London, England, ECV2 6DN and registered company number 05104538 

Barnardo’s, Cymba, and their subcontractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text being lost or not properly received. 

12. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. 

13. Barnardo’s has the right to change or update the Text to Donate terms and conditions at its discretion and will update this page to reflect any changes. 

Donations made via text are eligible for Gift Aid. In order for us to reclaim the tax you have already paid on your donations and make them worth 25% more, at no cost to you, either follow the link provided in the confirmation text message or visit: www.barnardos.org.uk/get-involved/donate/gift-aid.

Please be aware that we are only able to refund a donation in certain limited circumstances which are specified by charity law.  If you are requesting a refund, we will ask you for information to help us investigate your request and to check whether there is a legal ground to process your refund.
