Barnardo’s Northern Ireland - Response to COVID 19
The current Covid-19 emergency has presented a challenge like no other in Barnardo’s 154 year history.
Although we have taken the decision to close some of our buildings in line with public health guidance, we have not stopped delivering services and we continue to support the children, young people and families across Northern Ireland who need us most.
I have been inspired by the response of our staff and the innovative and creative ways we are continuing to reach out and support children and young people. I am very proud of how quickly our services are adapting to the challenges that come with this crisis.
I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all staff, volunteers, supporters and local companies who have generously supported and donated during this difficult time.
If you need to speak to someone at Barnardo’s NI, please call 028 90 672366, leave a message and someone will get back to you, or email [email protected].
If you would like to help Barnardo’s Northern Ireland continue our work supporting vulnerable families, you can show your support through a donation to our crisis response work, please donate here.
These are undoubtedly unprecedented times. As families face more pressures, risks become heightened and support systems are reduced, the work we do to support children and young people has become more important than ever before.
Take care everyone, stay safe and thank you.
Michele Janes, Head of Barnardo’s NI
We work with children, young people and families across Northern Ireland to promote better outcomes and build better futures.
We deliver a wide range of services, from providing family support and early intervention, to working directly with children and families who have experienced adversity and need our support.
We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, our work through our services reflects that philosophy.

Influencing policy in Northern Ireland
As well as providing direct support through our services, we aim to influence policy and practice so that children, young people and families across Northern Ireland can build a better future.
By gathering evidence from our service delivery and carrying out research, we develop policy on the issues that matter to the children, young people and families we support and campaign to influence change.
We work collaboratively across all sectors and political parties to achieve positive outcomes for all children.
