Barnardo's Chief Executive Lynn Perry has shared her thoughts on the news.
“At Barnardo’s, we were all saddened to learn about the passing of Dame Gillian Wagner.
“Dame Gillian played an incredibly important role in our charity’s history – as both our first female chair of trustees and as a historian.
“Her publications on Thomas Barnardo and on the charity are still used as important historical resources today.
“From all of us at Barnardo’s, we’re thankful for her work and the way she paved the way for others in her role here. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.”
