4 million children in the UK are growing up in poverty.

For some children, hunger is more than just food.

Poverty is stealing children’s childhoods. Instead of playing with their friends or focussing on school, too many children are worrying about where their next meal will come from or feeling scared about the stress they see in their parents’ eyes as they open yet another red bill. Children across the UK deserve so much better.

Lynn Perry

Barnardo's CEO

Right now, over one in four children in the UK are growing up in poverty. But for them, hunger is more than just food. They are missing out on the everyday things many of us take for granted, going without the essentials, and starting to feel left out of the moments that matter most.

With your support, Barnardo’s is there alongside parents every day, helping them support their children through the toughest times. You’ll find us at kitchen tables, in Family Hubs, and on the end of the phone when things feel overwhelming.

Together, we can help children and young people feel safer, happier, healthier, and more hopeful by supporting families in their communities, in the ways they need most.

We’ve been changing childhoods and lives for over 160 years. And with your support today, we can continue to be there for children whenever they need us.

Your donation won’t be restricted to a particular project but will go to where it's needed most, helping us support children and young people no matter what they are facing.
