Fostering in North Scotland

Help transform a life

We believe you can foster

If you live in North Scotland and are interested in fostering a child, we're here to help.

Here at Barnardo's Scotland Fostering North, our team of dedicated social workers will support you throughout the whole of your fostering journey.

Barnardo’s values align with the principles of The Promise and we believe that all children and young people should grow up loved, safe and respected and realise their full potential - #keepthepromise. Learn more about The Promise.

We are particularly keen to hear from people who are interested in fostering older children and teenagers, or children with additional support needs and siblings. These young people are often those most likely to be referred to us at Barnardo’s Scotland Fostering North.

The rewards are huge. Knowing you've made a difference to a child's life is something that will stay with you forever.

Areas we cover

We offer fostering in the following areas:

  • Dundee
  • Angus
  • Perth
  • Kinross
  • Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
  • Highlands
  • Moray
My main reason for choosing Barnardo’s was the efficient way they dealt with my initial enquiry. I had confidence from the start in their measured approach and was encouraged by the positive feedback from other foster carers.

Foster carers told us they enjoyed positive relationships with their supervising social workers. They felt their work was respected and valued.

Retired couple share experiences from their 40 year fostering journey

Recently retired couple Jenny and Dave from St Cyrus were foster carers for nearly 40 years, spending the last 17 with Barnardo’s Scotland Fostering North.

“We always thought that when our own children were at a certain age we’d foster...we saw an advert on television for Barnardo's and we thought that was ideal so we approached that project."
