Family support

Family Intervention

A 13 week programmed approach to improve relationships for families affected by parental substance use.  Reducing risk factors, promoting protective factors and building resilience.

Individual Support

  • Parents - a 13 week intervention that supports parents whose substance use impacts on the lives of their children.
  • Young People - a 13 week intervention that supports young people impacted by their parents substance use.

Mentoring

Our 13 week mentoring programme supports vulnerable young people impacted by parental substance use to develop their talents and interests, resilience and promotes social inclusion.

Group Interventions

Our groups support young people and parents to develop new skills and resilience.

Parenting Groupwork - an 8-10 week programme working with parents interested in developing skills in parenting their children, focusing on behaviours and how they develop, boundaries and consequences and support.

Transitions Groupwork - an 8-10 week programme developing skills and resilience in vulnerable young people making the transition from primary to secondary school.

Involving young people

Above all we are trying to ensure young people develop the skills to cope with what lies ahead for them. We are always looking for chances to encourage young people to have a sense of what is possible for them. We do this by prompting, encouraging, giving feedback and pro-social modelling. We are trying to actively encourage young people to participate in the shaping of the service and the effectiveness of this in terms of the service they receive.
