The UK Government’s Department of Education has awarded Barnardo’s 736,154 for a 12 month pilot project to teach night-time workers how to protect children from sexual exploitation after dark. The project – called Plain Sight – will reach out to hospital staff, security guards and others who work at night.

Raising tax threshold to 11K will do precious little for poor families

Today the Chancellor announced that the government would increase the lower income tax threshold from 10.6 - 11K. In response, Barnardo’s has warned that poor working families would benefit little from the measure because of the way that the tax links with the Universal Credit benefits system, which means they’ll lose up to 65p for every pound they gain.
