We believe safe and loving foster care is crucial to giving a child the stability they so desperately need and deserve, in what can be a hugely challenging time.
You can make a huge difference to a child’s life by fostering and with Barnardo's training and support you won't have to do it alone.
“We are very proud of what our foster child has achieved in the time he has been with us and we remain fully committed to support him with whatever he decides to do in life. I do feel we have become more confident, proactive and have formed a genuine love for our foster child.” – Judith, foster carer
We’re particularly keen to hear from people interested in fostering in the following areas:
As a foster carer, you could offer:
1 in 3 children are separated from their siblings when placed in foster care. Keep siblings together, we will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child.
Children with challenging behaviours
Children in care may have experienced abuse in the past. Every child copes differently with past traumas. We need foster carers who are willing to understand demanding behaviours.
Children with physical and/or learning disabilities
We are looking for fosters who are willing to help meet the needs of disabled children.
“We have had a superb year. We have enjoyed the challenges and found the progress of our placements very rewarding.” – Donna, foster carer
