Specialist Children's Care Homes

Our Homes

  • Planned placements and introduction Whenever possible, we provide planned placements as such placements are usually the best option for children and young people.

We understand that adapting to change, particularly moving away from home or a placement can be very stressful and traumatic for children and young people.

Therefore, we ensure that our planned admission procedure includes steps to ensure that the transition is gradual and paced at the young person’s convenience.

  • Emergency placements We provide 24 hour emergency placements in order to ensure that we always able to immediately respond to the needs of children and young people.

We are aware that sometimes unforeseen events take place; such as the admission of a parent or carer into hospital, or the sudden break down of a placement. We therefore accept emergency admissions in order to ensure that children and young people who are experiencing difficult circumstances and are in immediate need are provided with a safe, warm and welcoming place to stay until either a return home is feasible or a planned move to an alternative placement can be arranged.

We are aware that sudden or unforeseen events can have a negative impact on the emotional well-being of children and young people, giving rise to feelings of anxiety, distress and in some cases rejection.

We therefore have an Emergency Admissions policy and procedure in operation in order to ensure that children and young people admitted to the Service on an emergency basis receive the same level of care and sudpport as those admitted on a planned basis.

The Emergency Admissions policy and procedure also ensures that both the needs and welfare of the referred child/ young person and the children and young people in residence are taken into consideration.
