Barnardo's Jigsaw Project

Barnardo's Jigsaw project has been offering an excellent service to foster carers, adopters and children for over 21 years. We work with people from different backgrounds, particularly from the African-Caribbean, Asian, African and white communities. We have been very successful in placing children of mixed parentage with mixed couples.

There are three strands to our service:

  • Adoption - for children of all ages and abilities, except white children under the age of four years, unless they are part of a family group needing placement.
  • Bridge fostering - a professional scheme for children who need placements ranging from three weeks to two years, whilst more permanent plans are made for them.
  • Permanent fostering - for children, usually over the age of six years, who need a permanent family but for whom adoption is not the right plan.

We can place children from all over the UK with our families. This increases choice for both the child and the family.
