Angus Family Support is an umbrella of four services specialising in Family group conferencing, Family Support, Parenting Support as well as direct support to young people.
The Barnardo’s Family Service works with children and young people aged 3-18 years of age and also provide family, parent/carer support. The service is for children and young people who are identified as experiencing significant vulnerabilities. Many will have had difficult life experiences and may now be at risk of accommodation or of placement breakdown. By working directly with children and young people, we aim to improve their mental health and wellbeing, which, in combination with support for carers, will help create stable placements and better outcomes for children and young people and the families they are placed with.
Who can refer: Referral approved by Social Work Area Manager.
Programme consists of attending weekly sessions for 7 weeks. Facilitated in Dundee and Angus. Parents and young people attend separate skill building sessions for the first hour, then break for 30 minutes and then come together for another hour in a supervised family session.

The aim of this service is to bring family members and close friends together to sort out any difficulties they may be facing that are affecting the children. With support, the family agree on a plan to help and support the family so that life improves for their children. The plan defines roles and responsibilities for all relevant parties to carry out. It is the responsibility of the Family Group Decision Making Co-ordinator to ensure that the plan is reviewed between 4 weeks and 3 months.
Who can refer: Referred via Social Workers
The aim of this service is to engage and support families who are affected by parental/familial substance misuse by responding to the needs of the adults and children to improve relationships, wellbeing, increase resilience and divert children from chaotic home lives in which family breakdown is a distinct threat. Reduce the impact of harmful lifestyle choices by parents on children. Children/young people age range 5-18 years of age.
Who can refer: Self referral/referral from family members/other agencies
