  • Newport Young Carers Service

    Supports children & young people who help look after a member of the family who is sick, disabled, has mental health problems or is affected by substance misuse. The service provides a needs based service offering different packages of support, from individual support, peer support via themed groups, issue based workshops/groups, activities/trips/residential breaks.

  • Priory Family Centre Young Carers & Sibling Support Service

    The Barnsley Young Carers and Sibling Support Service offers one to one sessions and group work to young carers and children with siblings with a disability/illness that are aged 5 to 17. The one to one sessions are led by the needs of the individual child. The group work sessions are interactive and bring together other young carers and siblings to offer peer support.

To improve outcomes for Young Carers who are at high risk of social exclusion and underachieving or experiencing difficulties at school because of their role as a young carer.     This project helps to develop awareness in primary and post primary schools throughout the Northern and Western Health and Social Care Trust areas. We develop awareness to teaching staff and pupils and provide longer term support for not only the current pupil population, but those to come in future.

    Provides practical and emotional support for young carers in the Northern area. The service works with schools, health and social care trusts and voluntary/ community organisations to raise awareness of young carers, their situation and to reach young people who need the service.
