Raising Awareness of Child Exploitation (RACE)

What we do

RACE is a child exploitation awareness raising service based in Cumbria.
We offer a variety of services countywide which include:
1 to 1 sessions with young people
Awareness raising education within schools
Work with parents and carers to help keep their children safe

We aim to raise awareness of child exploitation through socio-educative work to ensure young people know what exploitation is, how it takes place, how to spot the signs and where to go for help.
Our 1 to 1 work is offered to children aged 10-18 years.

Requirements for Referral:
The young person may be on a plan of some form.
These plans include:
Early Help Plan; Child in Need Plan; Child Protection Plan; Child Looked After.
If the child is not on a plan, please do get in touch as we discuss referrals on a case by case basis.

Who can refer:
Referrers usually include Social Workers; Targeted Youth Support; the Police; Plan Leads; School Staff, and other agencies.

Child Exploitation Training:
Our awareness raising training for professionals is a 4 hour long session which can be offered virtually or face to face at a small cost that can be discussed upon enquiry.
