About this service
Barnardo’s oversees the delivery of four designated Children’s Centres in South East Northumberland . Blyth West, Blyth Central, Cramlington and Seaton Valley. The core purpose of the Children’s Centre offer is to improve outcomes for young children and their families and reduce inequalities between families in greatest need and their peers in relation to child development and school readiness, parenting aspirations and parenting skills and child and family health life chances. We do this by acting to improve physical and mental health and wellbeing, protecting children from harm and providing activities in relation to supporting education, training and recreation and providing support to social and economic wellbeing.
Our contract includes provision of a joint agency Early Help Family Work Team. All workers hold a caseload of families who have children/young people pre-birth to nineteen who they provide support to the whole family using an early help assessment process. In the majority of cases the worker will act as lead professional for the family, coordinating support for them from other agencies as well as providing direct support.
