About this service
Askham Grange - Acorn House service is facilitated as a Support Service to develop a strategic approach to work with children and families of offenders and provide mothers in Askham Grange with a range of services which will enable them to maintain and develop their family relationships as part of the Children and Families Pathway. The services empower mothers to make informed choices about their future, improve outcomes for their children and reduce likelihood of intergenerational crime. Residents, their children, carers, and other relatives have access to appropriate information, advice, guidance, learning opportunities, care and support to better enable them to maintain or enhance positive relationships. This is provided through family extended and over night visits at Acorn House, a family facility at the Prison. We provide support to prisoners with regard to family issues, in accordance with the prison’s rules and procedures regarding security and public protection, and to support the prison in a casework-based approach via the offender management and family teams.
