What is RSS?

RSS icon

RSS (really simple syndication) allows you to keep up to date with regularly changing content on the Barnardo's website without having to keep coming back.

On the Barnardo's website you can subscribe to RSS feeds to alert you to new press releases and jobs.

In order to subscribe to RSS feeds you will need a news reader. Once you subscribe to an RSS feed the content is updated automatically as soon as it is published.

What is a news reader?

Newer versions of internet browsers, such as Internet Explorer 7, have a news reader function built in.

If your browser (such as Internet Explorer 6) does not have this function you can download an RSS feed reader, such as Feed Demon, to use instead.

Alternatively, if you want to access your RSS feeds from more than one computer, you can sign up to a web-based feed reader, such as Google Reader.

How do I use feeds on the Barnardo's website?

The help files for your chosen news reader will tell you how to subscribe to RSS feeds.

If you are not using the RSS function of a browser then you will probably need to copy and paste the link to the feed into your news reader. This can be done by right-clicking the RSS feed link where you see the RSS icon Orange RSS icon and selecting 'copy shortcut', then pasting this into the appropriate field in your news reader.
