Introducing Family Safeguarding in Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire County Council is introducing a new approach to keeping children and families safely together by supporting parents to change their behaviour.

Kat Band,  Assistant Director at Barnardo’s, Peterborough and Cambridgeshire said:

“We are delighted to be part of Family Safeguarding in Cambridgeshire and working with Cambridgeshire County Council and partners to help local families in need. We’re committed to supporting parents to change their behaviours which will mean that more children can stay safely at home.

“This month the Government launched its new Domestic Abuse Bill, which draws attention to the impact that this type of abuse has on children, who are often the forgotten victims of this crime. The Family Safeguarding Hub has the needs of children at the heart of its approach and will support families struggling with issues including domestic abuse, alcohol or substance difficulties and address mental and emotional health issues.

“Barnardo’s has a wealth of experience supporting vulnerable children living in challenging circumstances and we are looking forward to working in collaboration and bringing our expertise to the Family Safeguarding team.”
