Barnardo's is backing Public Health England's Every Mind Matters back to school campaign.
Barnardo’s Chief Executive Javed Khan said: "It’s alarming, but sadly not surprising, that many parents say their children’s mental health has been one of their biggest worries during the COVID-19 crisis.
“The pandemic and lockdown have been hugely traumatic for young people - separation from friends, anxiety about the virus and financial pressures at home have taken a serious toll on their mental health and wellbeing. With so much continued uncertainty about the virus, it's natural that some children will be fearful as they return to the classroom. This is especially true in BAME communities who are at greater risk.
“Public Health England’s Every Mind Matters site contains some great tools for parents to help their children’s mental health and wellbeing as they go back to school.
“However, we know some families will need additional support, and Barnardo’s See, Hear, Respond programme, delivered in partnership with 77 national and local charities is there to help children who are struggling.”
