Youngsters from Barnardo’s create unique birthday gift for Duchess of Cornwall

Release Date: 17 Jul 2017

Children and young people supported by Barnardo’s have helped to create a unique artistic gift to mark the 70th birthday of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, the charity’s Patron.

Youngsters from across the UK produced the 70 colourful pieces of art that form a collage within the numbers seven and zero. The framed birthday message reads: “Happy 70th HRH Duchess of Cornwall”.

The gift was presented to Her Royal Highness ahead of her 70th birthday on Monday, July 17th at a reception this week, attended by Barnardo’s Chief Executive Javed Khan.

Mason, aged 12, who attends Barnardo’s Meadow’s School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and was among the young people who contributed to the gift, said:

“I was so excited to be able to draw for Her Royal Highness.”

Javed Khan said:

“I would like to wish HRH The Duchess of Cornwall a very happy birthday from everyone at Barnardo’s and thank all the children and young people who helped with this special gift for her.”

The Duchess of Cornwall became patron of the UK’s oldest and largest children’s charity in December last year, succeeding Her Majesty The Queen who had been Barnardo’s patron for 32 years.
