Home Office launches Serious and Organised Crime Strategy - Barnardo's statement

Release Date: 01 Nov 2018

Barnardo’s has welcomed the Home Office’s new Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.

Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan said:

We welcome this Strategy, which rightly focuses on some of the most serious dangers facing vulnerable children both online and offline.

Children are at risk from complex threats, including criminal and sexual exploitation, with offenders finding new ways to abuse, exploit and enslave them.

Our expert workers help rebuild young lives, strengthen resilience and keep the most vulnerable children safe from harm.

We work closely with the Home Office, including through the national Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse to investigate the root causes of crime against children and help to end it.

We urge the government to invest in a multi-agency approach to keeping children safe, involving police, health, charities and other partners, with a strong emphasis on prevention.
