Celebrities Arctic Adventure for Barnardo’s

Release Date: 03 Mar 2017

A celebrity led team is taking on a series of exhilarating adventures in the Arctic to raise awareness of the UK’s largest children’s charity, Barnardo’s.

TV presenter and Barnardo’s ambassador, Helen Fospero is taking a team of eight celebrities and friends (1) to North East Finland on Tuesday 7 March 2017 where they will embark on three days of challenges in the Arctic Circle.

The group, which includes TV astronomer Mark Thompson, will be igloo building, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and husky-sledding. They will be battling against the elements in sub-zero conditions which reach as low as minus 20 degrees.

All because they are passionate about the work Barnardo’s does to help transform the lives of the most vulnerable children across the UK.

Despite having undergone recent knee surgery, Mark is determined to finish the trek and plans to keep fans enthralled with regular stargazing updates

Barnardo’s ambassador, Helen Fospero who abseiled down the 376ft Orbit Tower in London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last September for Barnardo's 150th birthday said:

I am honoured to be leading a team of celebrities and friends to the Arctic to support Barnardo’s.

I have seen first-hand the incredible work the charity does, and hope this trip will inspire others to take on a challenge to help make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable children.

TV Astronomer, Mark Thompson, said:

“Barnardo's believe in children - no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through. I am really excited about taking on this challenge and supporting this amazing charity.”

Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan, said:

“I would like to thank Helen, Mark and the whole team for going above and beyond to support Barnardo’s. We wish them well in their endeavours to spread the word about how we support vulnerable children to have better lives.
