A couple of hours a week is all it takes to help transform a child's life.

Do something rewarding and gain valuable skills for entering the world of work.

Volunteering is a great way to develop your CV, meet new people and help transform children’s lives.

We've designed volunteer activities that will fit your lifestyle, studies and interests. All you have to do is commit to a few hours a week and you could gain experience while giving back to your local community.

As a Barnardo's volunteer, you can get involved in projects like:

Walking up to the family’s front door the first time was a bit nerve-wracking, but they were all so lovely and friendly. I have got to know them all really well and I enjoyed the experience very much. I have learnt so much in addition to my course in terms of families who move here from other countries, and about volunteering with Barnardo’s.

It's incredibly rewarding and needn't be a big time commitment – just two or three hours a week will make a big difference to children’s lives.

We really value the contribution you can make – and we know that employers will value your commitment and experience too. That's why we provide a written reference for you for when you come to apply for jobs after university.
