Take part in the iconic London Marathon with a Barnardo's charity place and experience running amongst the capital’s historic landmarks whilst raising money for children and young people.

The TCS London Marathon has been a highlight of the sporting calendar since the race began in 1981, with over a million runners completing the course and one billion pounds raised for charity.

Every year, over 40,000 people from across the world run through the streets of London and thousands more spectators line the streets to create an atmosphere like no other. Starting at Greenwich, the route passes by some of the capital's most famous landmarks, including Tower Bridge and Big Ben, before finishing in front of Buckingham Palace.

How your money helps

Barnardo's aim is to provide the best outcome for every child, no matter who they are or what they have been through. By choosing to run for Barnardo's in the 2023 TCS London Marathon, you will be helping to make sure that vulnerable children get the help and support they deserve. The figures below show the massive impact that your fundraising could have if you take on the London Marathon for us!

  • £500 could provide a motorised chair for a disabled child
  • £1000 could pay for 100 young people to attend CV training, helping them to get a job
  • £2,000 could pay for 20 prevention education workshops in schools, to educate young people on how to stay safe
  • £2,500 could pay for accommodation and activities for a two-day residential break for up to 25 young carers
