Free Wills Month October 2019

This October we’re offering you the chance to write your will at no cost to you.

If you are over 55 you can take advantage of this offer which is in partnership with QualitySolicitors. Using a QualitySolicitor will ensure your Will is drawn up correctly and legally.

There’s no commitment to make a gift to Barnardo’s in your Will, but by choosing to support our work in this way you can help change the lives of more vulnerable children than ever before, creating a legacy that lasts long into the future.

It's easy:

  1. Visit the QualitySolicitors website to find a participating branch near you
  2. Make an appointment directly with the solicitor in October
  3. Make sure to mention ‘Free Wills Month’!

So what is Free Wills Month?

Free Wills Month gives you the opportunity to have a simple Will written free of charge. Your Will is written by a participating qualified solicitor provided through our long-standing partnership with QualitySolicitors.

Who can take part?

Individuals or couples aged 55 and over. If you're making your will as a couple, only one of you needs to be over 55.

Who are QualitySolicitors?

QualitySolicitors is a network of local law firms; the largest in the UK. They're dedicated to providing the highest quality legal advice and expertise for their customers, providing a fresh, modern approach to the way people see solicitors.

They have been our exclusive Gift in Will provider since 2010. Over our nine-year partnership, we’ve seen more than 3,500 people pledge £16.8 million to us, providing a crucial source of income for us to continue our life-changing work.

Where are the solicitors based?

This October, the offer takes place in the areas below:

Birmingham, Blyth, Buckinghamshire, Cardiff, Carlisle, Denbighshire, Devon, Doncaster, East Sussex, Glastonbury, Kingston upon Hull, London, Oxfordshire, Reading, Somercotes, Worcester.

What if there isn’t a participating branch near me?

Please get in touch with us, using the information request form, letting us know which area you live in and we’ll get back to you.

Your will is your opportunity to leave a gift to both the people and causes that are close to your heart. That's why Eric left us a legacy in his will:

Thinking about your gift

If you want to leave Barnardo's a gift in your will, it's worth taking time to think about the form and value of your gift.

You can leave the following types:

  • a gift of a specific amount of money - you can ask your will writer to index link the amount to ensure that its value increases with inflation
  • a percentage of whatever is left from your estate once you've looked after your family and friends
  • a specific item such as property, jewellery or other valuables
  • shares
I just wanted to make the charity a named beneficiary in my will... giving me the satisfaction and the comfort that Barnardo's work will continue in the future, and that I have helped
