The research explores the implementation of Five to Thrive training in two Barnardo’s services. Interviews and focus groups with 13 parents supported by Barnardo’s, and nine members of staff, show parents enjoyed learning about and integrating various aspects of Five to Thrive into the care of their babies, but identified the importance of peer learning, interaction, and a lack of confidence in an ‘expert view’. While staff observed changes in parent’s relationships with their babies and felt more confident when talking to parents, they found it challenging to implement the training directly into their work.
