Barnardo's Young Families Service Wakefield

Wakefield has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the UK and so Barnardo’s Young Families was set up in Wakefield to provide support to pregnant teenagers and young parents under 20.

We provide information, advice and sign posting to relevant services for young people in order to improve their life chances and parenting abilities.

Young Families aims to improve the life chances of these young parents and to enhance the relationships between the parents and their children. Our work aims to increase the inclusion of the parents and their children in the community and improve the overall health of the families.

The Young Families Service has given me back my confidence, its great to make new friends who are also young parents. Liz
