Viroo Bakrania
Children's Services Manager
I am Viroo Bakrania and I work for Barnardo's Indigo Project as a Children's Services Manager. The service is based in Barkingside, Essex and is a part of the London, South East and East Anglia Region.
The Indigo Project provides services to children with disabilities and their families and also to young carers. We also run a theatre workshop which is held once a week. This is an inclusive club which includes disabled and non-disabled children.
Our services include:
- day care and after school provision
- home care services - home care workers provide services in a child's own home.
- family based short break services - is where children spend time with foster carers and their family.
- short break residential services - the residential home is specially adapted to meet the needs of severely disabled children.
- young
carers service - provides support to young people under the age of 19 and their families. We provide
a variety of services that includes :
home tuition, after school club, sitting service, outings, individual and group support.
All these services enhance the quality of life of our service users.
The credit for the success of my service goes to a highly committed staff team. Also to the excellent partnership we have with our service users.
My own commitment comes from a deep sense of satisfaction that I experience in my work.
I feel Barnardo's is an organisation with a broad spiritual touch that I value very much.
