Errol John

New Opportunities Fundraising Manager

Hi, my name is Errol John and I have worked for Barnardo's for 8 and a half years. My substantive post is Assistant Director of Children's Services LEASE region. As a member of the regional management team I was jointly responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the region which has 46 services and a budget in the region of £20million, 700 staff plus numerous volunteers. I line managed eight services working on issues like childrens rights, disability, young carers and leaving care.

I am currently on a secondment for three years in the Marketing and Communications department as a New Opportunities Fundraising Manager. I am leading an initiative which is aimed at raising awareness of the work we do in Black and Minority Ethnic communities and also at generating income from new markets. This is an exciting role and one that plays to my creative strengths.

Since joining Barnardo's I have been continually impressed by the quality of our services, the commitment and dedication of the staff and the way in which the organisation strives to enliven its Basis and Values through a range of equality and diversity initiatives.
