Our President
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall was formally announced as Barnardo’s new President at the charity’s Annual General Meeting in October 2007. She succeeded Cherie Booth QC, following the successful completion of Cherie’s second three-year term.
The Duchess made her first visit as President in November 2007, with a tour of Barnardo’s High Close School in Wokingham. She met with staff and young people, as she visited the school’s many facilities.
‘We are honoured to have the Duchess as our President,’ says Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Martin Narey. ‘I hope that over the years she will be able to experience some of our vital work with the children across the UK who are coping with poverty, abuse, disability and exploitation. I hope that she will help us in our fight to end child poverty and support our campaign to get people to believe in children and put them at the heart of our society.’
