Believing in children in the South West

Young girl

Barnardo’s South West is one of the six Barnardo’s regions across England which runs projects for children and young people in the local area. We run more than 110 services across every county in the region, supporting those who are struggling to overcome the disadvantages created by poverty, abuse, disability and discrimination. We believe that it is never too early or too late to help a child in need and, whatever the situation, we don’t give up. We work for social inclusion for all, regardless of life circumstances.

Barnardo’s South West covers a region of sharp contrasts with many challenges. There are pockets of rural and urban deprivation including large estates such as Hartcliffe and Withywood in Bristol and remote rural areas where income levels per head are significantly lower than the national average.

Providing services to those in greatest need is the best-known aspect of Barnardo’s work in the South West, but this is just half the story. The other, equally important, element of our work is to improve the lives of children in need by influencing social policy and promoting good practice.

Children only get one chance of a happy and secure childhood. Barnardo’s believes it is never too early or too late to help children have the chance of a better childhood and a future as happy and fulfilled adults.  We believe in the abused, the vulnerable, the forgotten and the neglected. We will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child.

Do you believe in children? You can help the South West’s most vulnerable children by volunteering some of your time in a project or a shop? Or perhaps you could help us fundraise to keep our essential projects running so we can help more children and young people in the South West?
