South West

We have more than 40 services spread across every county in the South West and are proud of the work we do to help children, young people and their families. Our vision is to listen to children, families and communities so that we can support them in their efforts to build themselves a better future.
Barnardo’s South West covers a region of sharp contrasts with many challenges. There are pockets of rural and urban deprivation including large estates such as Hartcliffe and Withywood in Bristol and remote rural areas where income levels per head are significantly lower than the national average.
We support those who are struggling to overcome the disadvantages created by poverty, abuse, disability and discrimination. We believe that it is never too early or too late to help a child in need and, whatever the situation, we don’t give up. We work for social inclusion for all, regardless of life circumstances.
Providing services to those in greatest need is the best-known aspect of Barnardo’s work in the South West, but this is just half the story. The other, equally important, element of our work is to improve the lives of children in need by influencing social policy and promoting good practice.
These are exciting time with new opportunities to make things better for children. Barnardo’s South West looks forward to being part of the process, talking to decision-makers and influencing policy development in ways which will have a real impact on creating good childhood experience.
