About Barnardo's Scotland

Barnardo’s Scotland has been working in Scotland for more than a century. Our purpose is to reach out to the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and communities to help ensure that every child has the best possible start in life. We aim to make sure that every young person is able to reach their full potential, whatever their life circumstances.

Today we run more than 60 community-based projects across Scotland including:

  • leaving care projects which help young people to bridge the gap between being in care and living in the adult world.
  • family activity projects which work to support families in trouble
  • disability projects supporting children with disabilities and offering short breaks to their families

Our vision is that the lives of all children and young people should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination. We believe in the abused, the vulnerable, the forgotten and the neglected. We will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child. As one of the leading children's charities this is our pledge.
