BabyFather Initiative awards
Community Care finalist 2004

In October 2004 we were nominated for the Community Care Awards in the ‘Inter Agency Working’ category. We were particularly pleased to be nominated, given the tremendous amount of good work and practice being conducted in this area of social care, and would like to recognise all those nominated in our category.
We’d like to extend our thanks to the many fathers who have attended our various activities and events, especially those in custody (and the respective institutions with whom we work). Meeting as men and fathers to discuss parenting and fatherhood and what this means is yielding real insights and solutions to be used for both individual and community healing.
Whilst unfortunately we didn’t win in our category, we came amongst the three finalists and were highly commended for the work we do with black fathers and for this everyone who has been involved in making the BabyFather Initiative a success deserves our thanks.
British Diversity Award - Fellowship Award 2004
In 2004 we were part of a group of Barnardo's projects which won the prestigious BDA Fellowship Award, the highest accolade that the BDA awards. The award is given to organisations that have made a significant impact on diversity issues in the workplace and a genuine ongoing difference to British diverse society.
Our work with black fathers was a vital part of Barnardo's success in winning the award, and since 2004 we have continued and expanded our efforts in this area.
